The Master of Arts in Teaching program prepares highly qualified career changing professionals and recent graduates of higher education to be Arkansas classroom teachers. 

MAT研究生学位课程是:

  • Designed for individuals without teaching credentials but who have successfully completed a baccalaureate degree and wish to become a teacher in an expeditious fashion.
  • Intended to assist potential teachers, those having a baccalaureate degree in a content 区域，成为实践教育家.
  • A 30 hour graduate degree program with three tracks: K-6 Elementary, 4-8 Middle Level 和二级/ k - 12.

  • Submit passing Praxis II score(s) in your content area to the Graduate Coordinator. Visit http://www.ets.org/praxis/ar/requirements for information about Praxis II exam requirements for Arkansas.
  • Complete the FBI/Arkansas State Police background check and the Arkansas Child Maltreatment 中央注册处发放表格. 这些表格可在研究生协调员处获得. Background checks must be less than one year old at the time of licensure application. Submit these documents with your payment by following the directions on the forms.
  • Complete the following Arkansas IDEAS mandatory professional development workshops: 1) Suspicion of Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter and 2) Youth Suicide Prevention (see separate document titled “Arkansas IDEAS” for steps for completing training)

Once the above documents have been submitted, you will receive a letter from the Graduate Coordinator that indicates you are eligible for a provisional license, pending a district’s 主动提出雇佣你. NOTE: A school district must agree to hire you before you can actually 获得临时执照. 学区理解这一要求. Once a school district hires you, you must complete the appropriate paperwork as follows:

Once all of these required materials are submitted, the Graduate Coordinator will forward this information to the Office of Licensure at the Arkansas Department of Education. Your provisional license should be mailed in three to six weeks.
